How to Measure for Wallpaper

Are you measuring for a custom-sized wall mural or for a wallpaper? Custom wall murals are produced with the exact measurements that you specify. For wallpaper, you order a specific number of rolls.

Learn more about each product type below.

Wallpaper

  1. Measure from the ceiling to the floor and across each wall. Keep your numbers accurate by using a metal tape measure rather than a soft cloth one. Keep track of each room you are measuring by writing it down as you go.
  2. Add the widths of all walls together and enter the total width and height of the highest point in the roll calculator. The roll calculator can be found on the product page of each wallpaper.

Wall Murals

Simply measure the width and height of the entire wall. We always make your wallpaper to the exact measurements you specify when ordering, so add 4 inches (10 cm) to the width and height measurements. Please see the examples below for tips on measuring different types of walls.

Standard walls

Measure the width and height of the complete wall. Please double-check to make sure you get it right. We always produce your wallpaper in the exact measurements you specify when ordering, so we recommend you add 4 inches (10 cm) to the measurements, both width, and height.

Multiple walls

Measure the width of each of your walls and combine these measurements into one when ordering. Add 2-4 inches (5-10 cm) per wall for flexibility during installation. Then measure the height. Always start from the highest point and also add 4 inches (10 cm) to that measurement. You don’t need to order the mural as separate parts, for each individual wall.

Walls with doors, windows or other obstacles

Measure the width and the height of the complete wall. All obstacles will be cut out during installation. We always produce your wallpaper in the exact measurements you specify when ordering, so we recommend you to add 4 inches (10 cm) to the measurements, both width and height.

Staircases

As with other sloped walls, please identify the highest and lowest point of the wall when measuring the height. The same goes for the width. All sloped parts will be cut away during installation. We recommend you to add 4 inches (10 cm) to the measurements, both width and height.

Sloped walls

Measure the wall on the highest and widest points, ignoring any slopes. The sloped part is cut away during installation. We recommend you add 4 inches (10 cm) to the measurements, both width and height.

Multi-sloped walls

Measure the wall on the longest part in both width and height. The sloped part is cut away during installation. We recommend you add 4 inches (10 cm) to the measurements, both width and height.
